He was also responsible in the 2014 parliamentary election of the Shimogga district from the JD(S) party. He announced his sister Geetha shivrajkumar as candidate despite of knowing that Rajkumar Family was against it. She lost with third place and also lost deposit with two big names Bangarappa and Rajkumar despite of shimogga being the vote bank for the eediga community he belongs.
